RDAP Domain Lookup — Authoritative Registration Data

RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is the standardized replacement for WHOIS-style registration-data access.

OSINT.dev does not send the lookup through an arbitrary commercial aggregator. It first reads the IANA RDAP bootstrap registry for the domain's top-level domain and then queries the authoritative RDAP service published there.

Useful fields

Depending on the registry and disclosure policy, an RDAP domain object can expose:

registration status;
registrar identity;
creation, expiration and update events;
nameservers;
DNSSEC delegation state;
public entity/contact data where disclosure is permitted.

Redaction is normal

Modern registration data can be redacted or restricted. A missing registrant name is not evidence that no registrant exists.

Investigative use

Preserve the authoritative RDAP URL and lookup time. Current registration data does not by itself establish historical ownership, beneficial ownership or control.
