How to read this site

OSINT.dev brings investigations, tools and research context together. Each part serves a different purpose.

Investigations

Start from the homepage or your investigations. The public preview is limited; signed-in investigations save a private workspace with entities, connections and supporting observations. Select an entity to inspect its evidence. Available actions can expand it in place or create a related investigation.

Status tells you whether work is queued, running or finished. Results tell you how many planned checks returned usable observations. A finished investigation can have partial results, and a complete set of planned results is not exhaustive coverage of the subject.

Tools and documentation

The catalog contains both interactive tools and reference entries. Open a tool to see what it does, who can use it and what data it contacts. Its documentation explains inputs, limitations and output. A low-risk label is a relative classification, not a guarantee that every use is appropriate.

Sources, articles and Perspectives

Sources organize feeds and their collected items. The separate research source catalog describes external services, datasets and access conditions; inclusion is not a promise of an active integration.

Articles provide explanatory material. Perspectives contain editorial interpretation. Distinguish a cited observation from the author's judgement, and follow the cited source when a conclusion matters.

Taxonomies and the public knowledge graph

Taxonomies help browse related subjects. The OSINT reference and its public knowledge graph describe the discipline and its concepts. This graph is separate from your private investigation's evidence.

Dates, confidence and limitations

A page's update date describes that page, not necessarily the age of every source it cites. Retrieval time and source observation time may differ. Confidence, when supplied, is contextual and is not an identity-verification guarantee. Check warnings, missing sources and result limits before drawing conclusions.
