IP & ASN RDAP Ownership

Internet number resources are registered through the Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). RDAP provides a structured way to query those records.

OSINT.dev uses the IANA bootstrap registries for IPv4, IPv6 and ASNs to identify the authoritative RDAP service, then queries that RIR directly.

IP queries

An IP RDAP object can include:

• network start and end address;
• registry handle and name;
• allocation/assignment type;
• country field where supplied;
• entities and lifecycle events.

ASN queries

An autnum RDAP object can include:

• ASN range;
• registry handle and name;
• status;
• responsible entities;
• lifecycle events.

Critical limitation

Registry allocation is not the same thing as current routing or hosting. RDAP does not by itself prove the current BGP origin ASN, physical server location, end-user identity or beneficial ownership.

Use route/BGP data and additional infrastructure evidence when those questions matter.
