ExifTool is a mature metadata utility that can read, write and inspect EXIF, IPTC, XMP and other metadata across images, media and documents.

Useful for file triage, metadata verification and understanding what a file itself discloses before deeper analysis.

Metadata can contain sensitive information

Files are processed transiently by an isolated ExifTool worker and are not retained in tool-run history. Metadata may expose GPS coordinates, device identifiers, author names or timestamps. Maximum file size: 3 MB.
